I may have spoken too soon about Ginebra having a slim chance of getting through the finals. But after their fourth straight win, it reminded me of what Ginebra really is. Watching Ginebra’s games again after 9 years took me awhile to get that connection with them because there was not one single familiar face that would tie to the old Ginebra I grew up with and loved. They may now have a different coach and different players, but Brgy. Ginebra’s “NEVER SAY DIE” attitude is still there.

Allan can be, if I may say, a little bit peculiar at times depending on which angle you look at it. I can list several little things as to why, but I don’t really need to get stressed right now. So a couple will do fine for the time being.
This is basically about two kinds of seasons in each year. One is the hot or summer season.
During summer, Allan would have the air conditioning in full blast at night while he is snuggling comfortably under a thick comforter. I don’t really like thick covers or sometimes don’t even want covers at all. Same with the boys, who tend to kick their covers off one hundred times after I will tuck them in one hundred and one times. Either they would get sick from freezing at night or I’d end up with no sleep. And as the person who does the budgeting, I think it is wiser to dress up light or have light covers during bedtime on summertime.
Now we move on to wintertime. You’re probably guessing right now that Allan will have the heater in full blast with minimum clothing on him. Well, it’s more complicated than that. I forgot to mention that he cannot sleep without the noise of a fan. He also cannot sleep if there is one tiny speck of light inside the room. I couldn’t help but ask him if his eyes are wide open when he’s asleep.
So it is expected that Allan will have the heater turned up high, and of course still snuggling under his thick blanket with layers of clothes as well. I agree, there is nothing wrong with it so far. Up until the time he turns his box fan on. For heaven’s sake it’s winter, why would you have the fan turned on? I know he wanted it on because of the noise of the fan. I asked him if he could just have the fan in the bathroom turned on. He innocently (or trying to) answered me, “I have layers of clothes on me and I have this comforter. I don’t want to sweat.” Honestly, at that moment, I didn’t know if I’d continue to argue with him or laugh at him. But I was more drawn to the latter.
Really though, how do you rationalize with that? My advice? You don’t. You just laugh it off because for me, that’s my only way of keeping my sanity. Moreover, as strange as it may sound, I rather that he is that way because it sets him aside from anyone else. It makes him unique and special to me. And that’s one of the things I love about him.

After Brgy. Ginebra got their much-needed win at Lucena City, I was forced to believe that it was the boost they needed to get them back in the game. But that swiftly dampened my spirits after they lost another game to Talk N Text, which pushed them to be at the bottom of the list.
It can be a little bit discouraging to see Ginebra getting drilled by the other teams, but that is how Brgy. Ginebra is known to be — to be the defeating team and then would slowly climb up and surprise everyone. However, it seems like their chance of getting on top in the PBA Philippine Cup is slim to none.
I still can’t complain though. I’m just happy that once again I am able to watch Ginebra ( sans Robert Jaworski, Vince Hizon, Noli Locsin and Bal David ) play on the court and entertain people. I’ve been here in the US for nine years and never did I get the chance to watch them play, up until a couple of weeks ago. Really grateful for www.pinoychannel.tv.
